Lisa
Brushi, TechBridge Program Manager writes:
TechBridge
is a Federal Workforce Investment Act funded program for out of
school youth ages 16-21. We do computer training, job skill training,
employment skills, and assist in GED prep when needed.
The
program is totally free for all eligible youth, has up to $200 in
earned incentives, and when placed the student even gets to take
home their new PC that they themselves have built! Details of the
program are available on the attached flyer. Students can be either
be graduates or a drop-out, but must be out of school.
Students
can enter the program at any time. It is open enrollment and usually
lasts 6-12 weeks depending on the student and their needs.
We
meet in Lebanon at 200 Schneider Dr. Monday-Friday from 9:00-2:00.
Our
focus is to help students get jobs in the area based on their skills,
likes, and needs. We assist them in their pursuit of employment,
higher education, and/or GED. We are contracted through the SouthCentral
Employment Corporation located at the CareerLink building directly
across the street from our classroom.
Every
student we've had since September, 2004 has either been placed in
employment or post-secondary education or is soon to be placed.
We work with our students to help them go out and find the jobs
they need.
